Year 6 Science – Burglar Alarm Challenge

Helen Ansell

Year 6 exercised many of their ‘resourcefulness’ learning powers when they made their own burglar alarms. They had to plan carefully and think about how the system would be activated, making revisions as they went along.

Super Hero Day 2018

Day 4 – The Isle of Wight

Teacher

Today the adults were feeling a bit tired so we came up with a brilliant idea. Send them all into a maze and that should give us at least 10 minutes peace and quiet. Wrong – most were out in 5 (and we were sending them down the dead ends from the viewing platform.) On a plus, they did have a-maze-ing fun bobbing up and down between the hedges like little meerkats.

They had great fun on the water slide, enjoyed an ice cream and running around on the play equipment. We even managed another trip to the beach before dinner.

Day 3 – The Isle of Wight

Teacher

Another action packed day with a mixture of history and nature. The morning was spent looking around Queen Victoria’s church followed by a trip to Osborne House. After a windy lunch and a run around the park and it was off to Fort Victoria to walk through the forest looking for red squirrels and fossil hunting on the beach. You will be delighted to know that they have packed their ‘treasures’ in their cases.

Day 2 – The Isle of Wight

Teacher

The children all had a good nights sleep and were up and ready for an action packed day. We began the day at Alum bay where the children visited the sand shop. After a blustery 20min walk we arrived at the old battery for a tour of the site. After lunch we visited Amazon World and despite temptation we managed to leave the monkeys there and bring all the children home! We are now all settled and about to eat our evening meal.
