Welcome to the Autumn Term and our first term in Year 1. We have settled in well and are enjoying the learning we are doing.

Our topic the first half term is All About Me and our topic for the second half term is Weather.

In English we have started doing talk for writing. We have learned the story Peace at Last. We can now orally retell the story using the actions we have learned. We have also written our own versions of the story. We have been working hard on handwriting and punctuation. We know the three things we always need to use when writing are finger spaces, capital letters and full stops.

In maths we have been working hard on number and how to use numbers. We have beenĀ  counting forwards and backwards to 100, adding and subtracting. We have also done some work on length by comparing the length of different objects both in our classroom and on the playground.

Our science topic is Animals Including Humans. We have learned all about what animals like to eat, where they live and what they looks like.

We are very lucky to have a coach from Fit 4 Fun this term teaching us PE. We will be doing games and gymnastics.

Further information is available in our Curriculum Booklet on this website or ask one of the Year One team.
