Welcome to the second half of Spring term. We have already busy learning lots of new things.

Our topic this half term is Maps.

In English we have started doing talk for writing. We are learning about Non-fiction texts. So far we have learned the difference between fiction and non-fiction books. We are now in the process of learning about non-chronological reports. We are going to learn the features of a non-chronological reports and then we will plan and write our own reports. We have been working hard on handwriting and punctuation. We know the three things we always need to use when writing are finger spaces, capital letters and full stops.

In maths we have been working hard on number and how to use numbers. We have been  counting forwards and backwards to 100, adding and subtracting. We have also done some work on length by comparing the length of different objects both in our classroom and on the playground. Later on in the term we will be learning about weight and comparing objects according to their weight.

Our science topic is Seasons. We are learning about how the seasons change as we go from winter into spring.

We are very lucky to have a coach from Fit 4 Fun this term teaching us PE. We will be doing games and gymnastics.

Further information is available in our Curriculum Booklet on this website or ask one of the Year One team.
