Our Learning (Year 2)

Governors At St Albert The Great

We have had a busy term and really enjoyed Science Week.  The children all took part in a competition where we made flowers using paper and scissors.  They had to work out how to create petals and stems without using any glue or sticky tape.  The class winner was Vanessa Wloch who used slots and folds and twists to keep her flower together.  Well done Vanessa.  We also investigated natural and man-made materials by exploring our classroom and outdoor learning area. We collected various materials and then used printing process to showcase them in our classroom.  We had great fun making parachutes and observed them falling from the staircase with our toy characters. We recognised that the bigger the surface area of the parachute the slower it fell. This was proved when Mrs Mac and Miss Davey made a parachute with a bin bag. It was great fun.  This lesson also provided a stimulus for writing; ‘The day the toy characters landed at St. Albert’s.’

We are looking forward to seeing our learners’ Easter Gardens at the beginning of the Summer Term.
