Year 6 Science – Light

Year 6 are enjoying their new topic investigating light and seeing. They came up with some very inventive ways to prove that light travels in a straight line.

Year 4 Science Homework

Year 4 have been using their STEM skills to create these fantastic musical instruments, as part of their sound topic in science. Their challenge was to create an instrument which produced sounds of different pitch. Well done Year Four!

Year 6 Science – Burglar Alarm Challenge

Year 6 exercised many of their ‘resourcefulness’ learning powers when they made their own burglar alarms. They had to plan carefully and think about how the system would be activated, making revisions as they went along.

London Science Museum Visit – June 2018

Our visit from the London Science Museum started with a very exciting and engaging  bubble show, enjoyed by the whole school. This was followed by be a series of science workshops. Children in KS1 helped the three little pigs choose the best materials to build a strong house that will keep them safe from the big bad wolf. KS2 children took a closer look at the forces that shape our world with Sir Isaac Newton and Phil the Stunt Frog!

The Great Science Share – June 2018

The Science Ambassadors were excited to take part in the Hertfordshire satellite of the national Great Science Share.  Five schools in Dacorum joined together at Jupiter Academy to watch the live link from Manchester and then spent the rest of the afternoon sharing our science discoveries.

The first St. Albert Science Fair – April 2018

What an exciting start to Science week! A huge thank you to all the families that took part in our first Science Fair. We were delighted to have over fifty entries. We hope you enjoyed looking around and seeing all that had been investigated. Well done to our winners:

Stem Ambassadors – March 2018

Have you met our new science ambassadors? After a rigorous recruitment process, these enthusiastic Year 5 scientists will be helping to raise the profile of science throughout the school. Dressed in their white lab coats, they will be undertaking a variety of tasks from helping moderate the science that goes on in classes, to planning science week.

We have created a science vision and  principles to guide our science provision at St Albert the Great School. The children and staff worked together to think about what was important to them. These principles guide us as we plan our science teaching, learning and extra curricular activities.
