Our Learning (Year 4)

Governors At St Albert The Great

It’s been a productive Autumn Term so far! These are the units we’ve been working through.

In English, we started reading and writing fiction portal stories. At the moment, we are starting to read and write non-fiction non-chronological reports (information texts). We also work hard on our reading and SPaG work.

In Mathematics, we began with the units of Place Value followed by Addition and Subtraction. Currently, we are in the unit of Length and Perimeter. Whenever we get a chance, we practise our times tables.

In Re, our first topic was called People. This topic explored the truth that Jesus had a natural family with real people with names and a history. Our next topic was titled Called. Through Baptism and Confirmation, people are given the gift of the Holy Spirit and are called to respond in their lives. Our next topic is called Gift. God’s gift is a gift of love to all people of all time.

In Science, we’ve had an interesting time learning about the human digestive system, our teeth as well as food chains. This week, we’ll be starting our unit of Living things and their habitats.

In Topic, we’ve expanded our knowledge by answering the question: How did the arrival of the Romans change Britain? Next, we’ll be attempting to solve the question: Why are jungles so wet and deserts so dry?

In our busy timetable, we also manage to have PE lessons, ICT lessons and have had some creative art lessons too.
